TERRAITALY LIBRARY: AERIAL PHOTO COVERAGE AND ORTHOPHOTO OF ITALY

In 1988-89 CGR produced aerial photos and orthophotos for the Italian Government covering the whole Italian territory. The project was updated during 1994, and during 1999-2000 “IT2000“ accomplished the project.

"IT2000" included a colour film flight at the scale of 1:40 000 and the production of ortophotos at the scale 1:10 000 with a ground resolution of 1 meter. This project also covered the whole territory of Italy.

From 2003 new updates were carried out for this project, and during 2004-5 new surveys of the Lazio, Puglia and Umbria regions were completed. Colour ortophotos with an improved ground resolution of 0.5 meters were produced.

The products from these projects are all part of the image library TerraItaly. Public Administrations, private organisations and clients etc are welcome to lisence images from this database. This can be done through the web site www.terraitaly.com.

Most of these surveys have been executed with CGR's Lear jet 25C which is able to reach high altitudes (15 000 meters) and fly at more than 350 knots. The Lear Jet operates fast and efficient, and is available for use throughout Europe.
