EMERGENCY
Blom is member of the board of the 112 European Emergency Number Association (www.EENA.org).
EENA are an association developed to try and promote the knowledge and usage of the 112 emergency number across Europe. Oblique imagery plays a crucial part in successful case studies and analytics for future developments. Blom is one of the leading content providers within the EENA. Other benefits can be seen in the United States, where the 911 Emergency number, equivalent to the European 112, widely uses oblique Pictometry imagery for positional information from where the emergency call comes from and provide detailed information for the first response team.
Oblique imagery can immediately identify how wide access is for emergency vehicles, how large a ladder should be to reach the top of a building, how manoeuvrable other access routes are to where the emergency is located etc. Perhaps more importantly is that oblique imagery can even give the opportunity to see the emergency environment in daylight hours, while the emergency might is happening during the night. Emergency services also have the opportunity of seeing where the high voltage cables, or any other potentially dangerous elements are located, which might not be seen at night by the first response teams. This information is vital to any efficient and safe emergency unit.
Blom is increasingly making efforts for supporting all the European 112 Emergency Services.
